Since November 2017, the number of measles cases has increased in France. The High Council for Public Health (Haut Conseil de la santé publique, HCSP) recommends that the management of measures to control the measles cases be adapted during outbreaks.
The HCSP recalls the definition of regional and national epidemic levels. The conditions of monitoring strategy for measles cases (mandatory report) as well as the priority given to virologic confirmation are specified. Some management measures are recommended during outbreaks, in particular the organization of vaccination campaigns closer to the vulnerable communities. The HCSP sustains the importance of the implementation of information and communication actions regarding the disease and the need to high vaccination coverage rates to reach elimination and protect the most vulnerable population.
