The HCSP was asked about the tailoring of barrier measures and social distancing (outside the healthcare settings and nursing homes) after the lockdown period and to prepare the lockdown exit. The HCSP is requesting the maintenance of barrier measures including physical distancing, hand hygiene, wearing a mask and individual and collective arrangements.
The HCSP stated that the wearing of cloth face masks that meet standard specifications, whether manufactured or home-made, constitutes a complementary measure to physical distancing measures, other barrier precautions, hand hygiene, the ventilation of premises and the cleaning/disinfection of surfaces. The wearing of such cloth face masks by the general population is justified within confined spaces, in particular if they are poorly or insufficiently ventilated, and in outdoor environments where a physical distance of at least 1 metre cannot be maintained or guaranteed.
