In its opinion on the electronic health record in 2022, the HCSP had recommended a compulsory examination at the age of 6, i.e. during the 7th year.
This proposal was approved at the “Assises de la pédiatrie et de la santé de l’enfant” (Conference on paediatrics and child health) on May 24, 2024. In order to rapidly implement this new examination through redeployment, the Direction Générale de la Santé (DGS) plans to abolish the compulsory examination scheduled before the end of the 1st month.
The HCSP considers that the abolition of this examination should not hinder the follow-up of newborn babies and is only feasible if examinations are scheduled at 15 days and 1 month of life. The content of the 6-year examination has been reviewed in detail by the HSCP, in particular with regard to sensory screening tests, developmental assessment and the care pathway in the event of suspected developmental disorder. Advice for parents on the use of screens adapted to this age group is also provided.
