The HCSP has assessed the pertinence of registering polioviruses to regulatory lists of transmissible diseases requiring or prohibiting various funerary operations.

The HCSP has reviewed the situation with regard to poliovirus infections reported across the world in relation to populations’ vaccination coverage and to environmental contamination risks.

Related to the very low risk of the virus’ dissemination, along with the monitoring carried out, environmental surveillance and high vaccination coverage rate in France, the HCSP recommends no implementation of polioviruses to such lists of transmissible diseases.

The HCSP calls to mind the immunization strategy to poliomyelitis for routine vaccination and professionals concerned.
