As part of the ‘France Experimentation’ programme, several companies have applied to trial innovative approaches aimed at reusing DASRI-A containers and/or recovering the waste contained in these packages. The HCSP has issued an opinion on the draft decree establishing the principle of these experiments.

The HCSP took into consideration, in particular, the provisions of Articles R. 1335-1 et seq. of the Public Health Code, ISO standard 23907-2:2019: reusable sharps containers and its previous opinions.

The HCSP proposes amendments to the draft decree submitted. In particular, it recommends defining the criteria for including persons or legal entities authorised to apply for an experiment authorisation. It also recommends specifying, in the application file, the conditions for the collection, storage, transport and treatment of DASRI-A, the generic indicators for evaluating the trial, and the conditions for validating the ‘real-life’ microbiological effectiveness of the treatment of reusable packaging and/or DASRI-A that will be recovered or recycled.
